Each month, I'll post a new list of fruits and vegetables that are seasonal and available at your local farmers market or organic produce department. Buying what's in season means that your food is fresh, available in organic, pesticide and chemical-free and what farmers are growing right now, nearby.
Ideally, this is how we want to eat all year round. Sure, red bell peppers and tomatoes are in the grocery store any time of year, but likely they were shipped or trucked in from Mexico, Spain or even Thailand! Now that's not fresh, nor is it cost effective for you. When something's in season, it's reasonably priced and grown by local farmers.
